This course covers topics from colonial times to the present. Topics include a review of the American Revolution, the Constitution, development of political parties, the westward movement, Civil War, reconstruction, industrialization, immigration and consideration of 20th century topics. This course requires extensive outside readings, document based reading and testing, challenging writing assignments, and summer requirements. Students enrolled in AP classes are expected to take the AP exam. Participation in the AP exam is necessary for a course to be designated as an AP course on student transcripts.
