Medical Biology A

Credits: 2.5
Course Length: Half Year
Prerequisite: Successful Completion of 2 years of Science with a grade of C or above

This semester course is a hands-on, lab-oriented class designed for those students interested in medicine. To be successful, students should have a strong understanding of the concepts covered in Biology, such as Body Systems, Cell Biology, and Genetics. Students will learn through simulations, guest speakers, and many laboratory activities. This course is designed to facilitate student’s ability to make vital connections between concepts covered in traditional standards based instruction and actual application to careers and technology currently available. This course will emphasize scientific and critical thinking coupled with exposure to technical writing and effective communication of research findings. The lessons in this course encourage students to think about the relationships among knowledge, choice, behavior, and human health in this way:
Knowledge (what is known and not known) + Choice = Power
Power + Behavior = Enhanced Human Health
Medical Biology A and B may be taken in any sequence.
